About Me
As a group leader and Ambizione fellow at the University of Zurich’s Limnological Station, I focus on studying biodiversity from its origins to its roles and dynamics within ecosystems. Utilizing computational biology methods, my research explores various aspects of microbial ecology and evolution. Currently, I am investigating the ecological factors and evolutionary processes that drive speciation and adaptation, as well as the mechanisms that generate and maintain genetic diversity. Through this research, I aim to clarify the fundamental processes that shape life’s complexity and inform our efforts to preserve it.

Lab Overview
The Microbial Evogenomics Lab (MiEL) at the University of Zurich brings together researchers in computational biodiversity and environmental microbiome research. Utilizing advanced omics technologies and bioinformatics, we analyze sequencing data from various ecosystems to identify the evolutionary and ecological factors driving microbial diversity. Our research aims to understand the processes that shape microbial communities and support ecosystem stability.
